Open Question: How often can you give blood?

I'll be giving blood next week to help lift money for charity, I like the thought that I'm doing something helpful and would like to do it more often. Open Question: Have you ever done a charity walk? Were you able to walk much father than you expected you could?

I want to do one coming up in May. Its a long one and typically I think I could do maybe a quarter of the way but wonder if the moment will receive me through farther or even every the way? I exercise every day and am fit but I also have asthma and so cardio is challenging for me.

Open Question: Alright ... different forum but I am curious what you guys think?

Okay so I'm asking this question here in this forum (rather than in singles and dating or in lgbt) because I want advice/suggestion from someone who is married or in a relationship. Okay there's a bit of back story but to make it short ... I have had a female pal for about a year now, who up until a month or so ago, was one of my closest friends. She hung out with me and my boyfriend every the time. He and I have been together for a few years and have always a great relationship. It's also always been very honest. About a month ago, I think it was a month ago now, she began coming on to me. At first I shrugged it off because it was always when we were out clubbing and women often engage in 'safe flirting' with their gay male friends. There were two incidents, though (one she surprised me by jumping in the shower with me and coming on to me and then by coming on to me while I was passed out) that really made me look I could not remain her pal because she had issues with boundaries. I broke off the friendship but on my boyfriend's advice I went to look her to tell her in person why I could not be her pal. She came on to me, and I realized it was due to a simple latent sexual curiosity, and I caved in and hooked up with her. I felt awful about cheating and confided in my partner, who said he needed some space to figure out his feelings. I gave that to him. He has since said he wants to work things out, which makes me glad and I feel like now that that I've 'experimented' I don't really need to again (I think it's odd I never had a conscious desire to experiment with women before but, whatever). As far as my former pal goes, she said she didn't care the friendship was over she got what she wanted (which is messed up after one year of friendship, in my opinion but whatever there too). Now there's the issue of this charity function. I got her involved in it with me months ago before she ever showed any signs of wanting more than friendship from me. Now there's this event that she and I are scheduled to volunteer for. I tried getting out of it by having another pal take my place because it's out of town and I didn't want to place any further doubts in my boyfriend's mind. I even texted to look if she was going or wanted to receive out of it, and she says she's still going. My boyfriend thinks I should go, because it is a charity for kids and I did commit my time to helping out. He suggested I simply try to book my room away from hers by booking both rooms and asking for them to be far apart. I guess as long as he is okay with me going I don't have a problem going, but my question is this: do you think she really meant it when she said she didn't care the friendship was over because she got sex from me? I made it very clear after we did the deed that it was not something I wanted to do again. If she is okay keeping her distance then every should be good. I just want to make this trip go as smoothly as possible for everyone involved. Advice?

Open Question: How to remove hair dye from scalp?

So I re-dyed my roots black a few days ago, and today I got my head shaved short for charity. It looked fine, except for the patches of hair dye stains I had on my scalp, making it look really uneven. Can anyone suggest anything to remove the stains? I've already tried toothpaste, dye remover wipes and regular shampooing. Normally this gets the dye off straight away, but I guess it's stubborn this time. I heard cigarette ashes work, but I don't have any cigarettes, so do any other types of ash work, or is it just cigarette ash? Because a pal of mine is staying over and she has a bunch of incense and stuff I could receive ash from, but I'm not sure if that works.

Open Question: Do you think my friend would sing at my fund raiser event?

Basically this girl and I used to be best friends - we were extremely close. Last September I went to College and she's doing an apprenticeship so I rarely look her, although we're still close. Although she works in a Salon she wants to be a singer. She is trained in classical singing and she truly is fantastic, she has the most incredible, pitch-perfect voice I've ever heard. She has a CD out and she's just made a music video. She does lots of local charity events. I have to lift between £2000 and £4000 for my Gap Year, in which I will be teaching English and extra curricular activities/helping kids in orphanages with AIDS/doing medical work in a third world country. For one of the fund raiser events I was thinking that perhaps she could do a concert, the entry fees would go towards my Gap Year and she could sell her CD and receive recognition. Do you think this would work, and would she go for it? The question is if you think it's a good enough offer for her to take, or if you think there should be more in it for her.

Open Question: Did you see the news where they are thinking, or are going to, go back decades and make people pay old defaul?

defaulted loans, student loans, etc. That as you know, will hit the Vietnam Vets who could not receive jobs, etc. Thank God we had no Federal loans on anything, student or otherwise, nor ever did. I could not receive a job when I got out of college. Never had a problem getting work in my life until I went to college, suddenly, I cannot receive the work I had before and none that I went to school for after. Not only that, was not expecting to file for divorce, end up getting a divorce, (unexpectedly) and find I have absolutely no credit, no cash, no clothes, no nothing. Just a worthless degree. He took off and spent every the money. Expected ro arrive back. No. No thanks. Not never, no never. bad grammar and every. I ended up having to live in homeless shelters. No job. No money. Not eligible for disability. Never in my life had I had a crazy minute, or mental illness. Every time I took a job, even with no money for food, no cash, no where to live, student loan collectors descended. It didn't matter that I had only the clothes I was carrying. It did not matter that I had been assaulted and battered three times. It did not matter I had no food. They wanted that payment, first, before anything else. I had no income except what I made. I lived in a horrible hut with a tin and tarpaper roof, lizards, bats, rats, mice, no running water, making minimum wage or a dollar over, no toilette facilities except to pour water through. I worked part time and had to pay two payments a month on that student loan. The worthless student loan for which I worked really difficult to receive an education, I worked, I earned my degrees by the studying and sweat of my brown. I STUDIED, whether anyone else did or not. They would not let me work in the area I trained for, something I wanted to do every my life. Then when I giv e it up, I was forced to go back into it, against my will to pay the loan which comes before health, life, food. Then they trash ripped it off again. I am here, they stole everything again, except a few dollars of belongings. I think, IU am sure I have early CHF and diabetes developed since here, which they are lying about thinking I will be sent back and someone will collect big payments, a lawyer, again. I have not enough belongings for anything, it has sentimental value only. IF I sold it , it would not pay a bankruptcy attorney. Everything I have would not pay one. The darned lawyer I saw saw me long enough to legalize the info she had, then went to work for the state. I am out my career , which I did not want to go back into and which destroyed my health, my legs, lungs, teeth, guts, colon, but I was good and oculd have avoided poverty until I could pay off the bills and go part time. Now, I am sick. No insurance. They harass me to death. Have garnisheed the part of my income which meant dental, health. I am at 100 percent poverty level, cannot afford an attorney and the preprejudiced judge ripped off my money when the maggots who harassed me, stalked and harassed me out of my career, are the ones she is garnishing me for. I don't have the money for groceries let alone medical. They rip off my money and tell me to go on charity care. No. ;I want the judge and the attorney taken to court and I wqant the ones who stalked and harassed me with the intent to sue me to make me go back, and to pick up money off me for the special interest groups here, prosecuted for harassment with intent, reckless disregard for my mental and physical health. Stalking, harassing, invasions, criminal defamation and slander. I want my money back. I want them fired, disbarred. This is the last straw. Everything I did to avoid poverty in my old age, so that when I retired I could have something to do, some fun, some good diet, pretty clothes, normal weight, health insurance, they ruined, stole. They did it for speical interest groups. I have no church. The church, the denomination I was in, stole from me. They cared nothing about the living conditions I lived in, the hardship on the j ob, ruining my health. They took from me, and took from me. I tithed and more on that little income I had while I worked for half pay. I was not in nursing school. I graduated in good standing from nursing school. I am no longer a nurse. Twice due to nursings lies and discrimination, I lost my home, and health. Now this. Now when I am 63 years old, and have no one but my two kids, they rip off my icnome so that I cannot look a personal physician not connected with the thieving lying, stupid discriminating state who conspired to launder money off me to their special interests. I am not the thieving fraud. You who came back andc got college then could not receive jobs are going to be screwed again, just like we were. .

Open Question: If you had to be a criminal what type would you be?

Lets imagine you had no choice. You had to become anti-authoritarian for the greater good. Not every criminals are bad. Most have habits that need funding, while others beleive that there is too much inequality in the world. I don't want to pretend to be Robin Hood or anything, but when I was younger and used to steel expensive car wheels, I had several direct debits to charities, that took up about 10% of my income. Though, I must admit that was not my main priority then. So, what type of criminal would you be if you had to be one. Personally, I would like to be an assassin. Not one of the brutal types, but more like an angel of death type. Another misconception. I have a masters degree in computer science. I just figured it was more fun, less stress and more profit to steal then work. I am no longer a thief but it was worth the experience. Some young people travel the world spending their money. I decided to have some adventure.

Open Question: What should I name my RPG (programming class assignment)?

For our final project, we are writing a final project in Java on anything we want to do, and I decided to do an RPG that, instead of fighting, focused more on trading and becoming wealthy. I'm planning on incorporating things such as: -Buying "shares" in resource production which would allow you to receive part of the production of those resources, then be able to sell them. -A karma system, where forcing workers to receive you more resources decreases karma, and giving to charity or letting workers take a break increases karma. Karma can determine the possibility of getting rare items while "adventuring," prices when buying/selling/etc. -Unique items, like "perks" that will give you a boost as long as you have them, but can be sold for big amounts of cash. Effects of the "perks" can be constantly increasing karma, extra resource production at no karma cost, etc. It probably won't be "magical," besides the unique items. I'm looking for mainly a medieval style game, with nice of a trader/merchant feeling. I've thought of everything, but everything I can think of sounds too generic like "Medieval Trader." Anyway, thanks for your help!

Open Question: How do I find more work from home (UK)?

I work from home as a self-employed Secretary/Administrator. I already work for a charity but need to increase my hours. I have tried advertising in our local village magazine and shops and have also contacted many local businesses, but no luck so far. Any ideas on the best places to advertise/people to contact?

Open Question: Do those click-for-charity websites actually do anything?

l found a website called "thenonprofits.com" and it has a list of dozens of charity groups that if you click on it, you donate money to that cause. l am curious to know if it is legit. l don't mind doing it, it costs me nothing but a little time to help someone, but l wonder if it is just a waste of time. l don't even know who to ask this question. Does anyone else click on these? Does anyone know if they are even valid? Thanks.

Open Question: What should I title my binder for my project about a charity?

This foundation called the Youth Philanthropy Initiative chose our school to receive students in certain classes to compete to win $5000 dollars for a certain charity. We need to make a presentation and a binder. We need a title page for this binder, so I was wondering, what's a creative title I could put on it? The charity we chose is called The DAM and its purpose is to help kids in our local community deal with life and stuff.

Open Question: Can anyone help me find my friend, Rick Henry?

I lost Rick's phone number when he moved away from Illinois in about 2001 or 2002. He goes by Rick, but his name is actually Dennis Richard Henry. He's 45 years old now, and since he moved away, he's gotten married and they have had a child. He likes to run long distances, in marathons, for charities, or to set records. I also found that he sent in a video for a contest, and to be on a reality show called Tontine. He won the contest, but they never made the TV show. IMDb shows that it is "in production". Open Question: Do I need to register an organisation in Northern Ireland and, if so, how do I do it?

Hi, I've set up an organisation called "StandUpYouthNI," which has been set up to help tackle discrimination against youth. Do I have to register this organisation? Or can I carry on without having to do so? IT IS NOT A CHARITY, merely a non-profit, volunteer organisation. I would quite like to be able to ask for donations, but am not sure if this would require legal registration or not. Many thanks for your answers in advance!

Open Question: What is a good charity to raise awareness of teen drug use?

Me and a few friends want to receive involved and help out. We lost a pal due to teen drug use. It was very tragic and he will be very missed. I'm very heartbroken, but at the same time want to do something to make sure this doesn't have to happen to anyone else. My friends and I are offering to do jobs in our area to lift money for a charity that will lift awareness of teen drugs. The problem is, we don't know any trustworthy charities for this cause. We live in Washington state. Any suggestions?

Open Question: How would I go about doing this?

My class has many charity events, and my idea got picked... To send gift baskets to the troops... i was wondering where is the best place to send them so they can send them to the soldiers? And my teacher also wants to look if I can receive a soldier to talk to our class? Who could I receive for that too? Or how? Open Question: What is a good charity to donate items to?

Im doing my gold award for girlscouts and basically every the money I lift is going to a charity... however, Im not aloud to directly give money. I have to buy and item or items and give it to them. (Like say Im donating to a hospital, I'd buy a heart moniter and give that to them)...or something along the lines of that. I was wondering if anyone knew any charities that would be good? Open Question: How do i get some of the Socialist money people say Obama & Congress is handing out?

Looks like to me every the hand-outs are going to the govt program head quarters/big corporations. Handing the money out to the top echelon of every entities using the very same logic of failed "Trickle-Down economics. Producing results of waste in cost and NOT providing economic relief to those most in NEED. I will give President Obama credit for donating every of his nobel peace prize money to charity, that is a very rare gesture not seen enough of by greed mongers in representative govt yet a great example to set for today's environment of greed.

According to your biblical texts, If I reject God I will be sent to hell. I do reject god, jesus and the holy spirit. I would like you to know though that I'm a very nice person, I volunteer at my local charity when I can as well as help build houses for the less privileged. I've never stolen, I am nice and generous to others and guide a very honest and nice life. the questions is do YOU think that I deserve to go to hell.

Open Question: Your creative ideas for fund raising would be greatly appreciated...?

For my Gap Year I'm going to be doing charity work in a third world country, mostly working with orphans with HIV and AIDS. I need to lift between £2000 and £4000, therefore over the next year I will need to put on a number of fund raising events. I want them to be things that people would actually be interested in coming to/participating in. Here are my ideas so far: *My pal is a singer with a CD and music video out - she's fantastic! I'm asking her to do a concert (she's never done one with just her in it before) where the proceeds would go to the Gap Year (included in that will be the entry fee, cakes, raffle and perhaps other things) and she can sell her CD and receive recognition. *Mum says I could do a quiz night. I'm not sure how many people would attend this though. *I wanted to shave my head and receive sponsored for it, and donate the hair to a cancer patient. It would be a big statement about self esteem and self image in young girls and also it would be something for the cancer patients as both my parents suffered from it, one fatally. But my boyfriend doesn't want me to do this as he thinks people are more interested in the spectacle than the message and he will receive the butt of any teasing related to it, which I understand. *'It's a knock-out' in the summer with people from my church. Mum says this could go hugely wrong. Those are my ideas. Do you have any more that wouldn't cost much to put on (we can use my church as a venue, I've asked my youth pastor) and would draw a lot of attention. Ideas?

Open Question: Why do people demonize Non Profit Orgs. for wanting to hire the best possible management talent available?

When you read in the paper that the former Chief Financial Officer of Boeing is now the new Chief Operating Officer of General Electric, and now makes 4.7 million, instead of the 3.4 million Boeing was paying him, it is NOT because GE decided that they had a bunch of bad profit money that they did not want to share with the stockholders. It is because they felt that they needed this persons special Talent or know how or expertise and were willing to pay him enough to receive him to give it to them! and NOTHING else! Charities In Particular should want to hire the best management available so they avoid loosing their donated funds to huge mistakes. How about THIS for a business section headline::::Former Wendy's shift leader to head up United Way for 55K per year! Do people expect charities to go "on the cheap" for management? OR do they expect top talent to be charitable with their labor when working for a Not For Profit? "Gee, Honey I'd adore to send little Billy to Harvard, like you an I went, but I work for the Humane Society now, not Ralston Purina". Is THAT how it should go? "Are you sure those were 'ghost' you were hearing?" Monica Christy asked Andy, hardly believe him herself. They sat in the living room trying to think of explanations of what could have happened. Maybe some pots fell, the thermostat really wasn't working, and it could have just been Andy's eyesight. But Andy was still freaked out. He usually didn't receive scared, but it felt weird for him to be living in a possibly haunted home. Especially if the home was in one of the oldest suburbs in town. The home was built in 1909 so it was very old. "Well, I think this is a noisy of bull." Holly said, eying Andy. "Are you trying to scare us?" Andy hoped he was just trying to scare them, but that was not the case. He needed Carter's priest dad Ferraro to bless the home. Suddenly, Savannah leaned over and made retching noises. Andy stared at her in disbelieve. This was no laughing matter. He needed serious help. She continued to pretend like she was throwing up. "Help! I'm sick because this home is haunted!" "I wish the walls don't start bleeding." Holly joined in. "receive out." Andy dismissed, pointing to the leave. "Relax, it was just a joke." she said. "Why don't you just do google on the home." Andy didn't think it was such a bad idea. "I will do that." "Let's talk about something else." Monica said, changing the subject. "We're donating to the Halloween charity, right?" "Sending them a thousand dollars." Andy said proudly. He loved helping out with charities. People who didn't were greedy. He remembered frowning at a lady who passed by a homeless guy. And she was carrying a Dolce & Gabanna bag! "Can I play with your birdies?" Savannah asked, pointing at the display middle which held twenty birds in it. Andy's parents had bought it for him because he wanted to take care of the birds. They were every multicolored. It was Andy's idea because it contrasted with the birds of the feathers flock together saying. They were every beautiful. "Knock yourself out..." he said, "...literally." Savannah bounced off of the sofa and began feeding the birds. Andy decided to let the ghost idea go. He needed to just forget about it. It was stupid of him to make a big deal out of something harmless.

Open Question: Volunteer work abroard for 18 year old?

I'm looking for a volunteer placement abroad for something to make my CV or UCAS application form to stand out. I know some charities require you to do some fund raising which I could do, but I cannot pay for it any other way. Anything that offers experience in either some nice of medical area or teaching would be great. I definitely do not want to be making cups of teas for University gap year student who think they're saving the world. I'm not just looking for something that is beneficial to me, I really do want to help people and I have a lot to offer. Any ideas would be great I live in the UK btw

Open Question: Would a real friend act like this?

I have been very good friends with this girl for about 2 years. By the way, I am also a girl. We are the same age. Lately, she has been acting very icy and mean towards me - or I think, anyway. I think the problem may be that I am just now realizing how different we really are in terms of our interests. I adore animals, the outdoors, staying active, going to the gym, yoga, eating healthy, charity, politics, etc. She hates animals, eats junk food 24/7, has no clue about politics, no interest in charity and very little interest in the outdoors or working out. She dropped out of college, I am continuing my education. She constantly puts me down for being "lame" for going to school. She makes fun of me for still living at home. Whenever I invite her to join me for skiing, jogging, swimming, a play, staying in and watching a movie, etc. she says that is "lame" and of no interest to her. Her only interests seem to be getting drunk, chasing boys, travelling and clubbing. I hate travelling and I can't fit it into my schedule with school, I hate clubbing and drinking to excess. She always calls me "spoiled" which is a HUGE joke to me. Her parents buy her a brand new car every other year, they bought her a condo, they pay for her trips and shopping,etc. My parents bought me a new car and don't expect me to pay for anything - yes, I realize I have it pretty good and I am VERY grateful. But I don't think I am spoiled - I certainly don't act like it. I am starting to question whether she is a pal to me at every. I wonder if I should put up with this sort of behaviour from her. Maybe I am just over-reacting.

Open Question: Phonecall asking me to sell raffle tickets?

Hi I just got a phonecall on my landline. The guy claimed to be calling for a charity for deaf people. He said that they were holding a raffle and hoped that it would lift the most money yet. He asked if he could send me out some raffle tickets to sell. I said yes, I then had to give my first name, confrim address and give mobile number. He said he would send raffle tickets out and that unsold tickets could be returned using the freepost envelope. When i got off the phone my boyfriend said that i shouldn't have given my details. Was I wrong to do this? Are these type of calls legit? Can my details be used for anything?
