Open Question: Dear Muslims, I'm trying to pick a religion. I think yours might be the one.?
Dear Muslims, my name is William. I became a theist today for reasons outlined in a previous question. Ever since becoming a theist, I have been trying to pick a religion. Islam somehow appeals to me because of its teachings of submission to Allah, of the great environmental ethics in Islam ("every of the earth has been made to me, as, like a mosque"), its teachings on charity and compassion (""There is an act of rewarded charity in every act of kindness that you do any living being on the earth") and its insistence on the existence of a loving and forgiving God. I would also like to receive my beautiful boyfriend to become a Muslim with me, so that we might live together in harmony with Allah. He is such a humble young man, but he's become disillusioned with Christianity, and so I would like to show him the right path to Allah. I promise that together with will perform Jumu'ah every Friday, and pray at the intervals deemed necessary in the Muslim faith. But I need to ask, how do I go about becoming a member of your wonderful faith? Excuse me Said Shukri, but I am already a real man thank you very much. Blessings upon you.

Open Question: Mayweather Rant doesn't suprise me?
I use to post on this board almost daily, but stopped because of the racism and stupidity that goes along with it.I randomly go here to check out any interesting post and look the ones about Mayweathers rant. What he said doesn't suprise or infuriate me one bit.I know Mayweather isn't the devil,he gives to charity when he has no obligation to,but I also know when hes not fighting his mouth is his weapon of choice. The main reason it doesn't bother me is because im not suprised. To some men money is equivalent to sucess.I personally think there are more thing to aspire to then obtaining money, obviously it is very important to Floyd "Money" Mayweather. He knows someone hating him is the same as having someone like him,he wants you in that seat either way.Hate speech strikes a nerve with me,but when I look that 70% of people don't think people have the right to build a mosque close ground zero how can I sit hear and receive up in arms about one boxer and his stupid big mouth.I also think many on this forum feel it is alright to gay bash and then stand tall and proud when it comes to speaking up about Mayweathers antics.I understand your feeling, but hate that type of hypocritical attitude.Am I the only one who isn't affected by Mayweathers words,am I crazy for not expecting better of him? @the Prodigy, were in here do I try to justify him or his actions? Also you blocked me for speaking out against you yet answer my question? @onivelm-He may very well be racist,my question is what makes people think Mayweather is bound by moral codes?Where is the line between in an out of ring attitude? Why do we as a society allow sports figures to have such a strong hold on us? @the prodigy-if not why couldn't I view your last question? @The Prodigy-you simply unblocked me to keep face.

Open Question: did you know conservatives are perfect non-lying people, whose only intention is to help people?
They always donate to charity. They adore the needy and homeless. The mentally disabled. They especially adore the environment and would do no hurt to it. They don't hear to corporations and they will always expose unethical practices. Their only challenge is Obama, who has committed high treason by giving everyone the option of "health care". Its that big scary word that no one likes to use. Oh no sarcasm. Just the facts. I am just saying how wonderful every Republican and how un-corrupt everything is these days.

Resolved Question: What do you think about this?
My dad is a straight white male, 59 years old. He has worked difficult his entire adult life, always paid his taxes, never asked for governmental ssistance, never been arrested, been married to my mom for 38 years, participates greatly in the community, gives to charity and has been a good upstanding citizen. Financially speaking, he would be upper middle class, not needy, but not wealthy either. His medical insurance company (one he paid $1200/month out of pocket to be insured with) went bankrupt. By law they had to transfer him with his pre existing condition to another company. The other company now refuses to pay a dime for his $3500/month medication, and on top of that, charges $1500/month just to be insured with them. That's upwards toward $40,000.00 out of pocket for the medication, plus his insurance premiums, plus his $5000 deductible. If he stops the medication, he will be in a wheelchair in below a year, and will significantly reduce his life expectancy. He really has no choice but to take it, but he's not going to be able to afford it. He finally swallowed his pride and went to the government for help, and this is what he was told: You are not a minority, you are a male, you are not gay, you pay your taxes, you possess a business, you pay for your possess insurance, we will not help you even though you cannot afford it, sorry. O, and your new insurance company, which you had no choice in the matter of being insured with, can totally rape you on your medication, even though your old insurance company covered it. Good luck, and don't forget April 15th next year! Lots of people on welfare who've never worked a day in their lives are counting on your tax dollars! What do you think of this nice of I don't even know what to call it, abuse of a good difficult working citizen? Obviously that not verbatim what they said, but that's basically along the lines, and it is true they told him because of his race, gender, sexual preference and factbhe had a job, he was not eligible. Do you think this is fair to make a good man pick between his life or draining his retirement in a few years and leaving nothing for his wife? And who exactly would hire my mom? She has been a housewife for 38 years, she has no college education, and 0 work experience outside the home. She has never had a job besides caring for my dad, and me when I was growing up. There are people out there with Masters degrees trying to receive jobs at Restaraunts, offices and other things my my may be qualified for. Who's going to hire her over someone with a college education and work experience?

Open Question: HELP!!! Waiting for full confirmation ... Charity?
I recently made a donation of £50 to islamic relief. On my first attempt i got to the part where i put in my banking details and it said processed, the next step was to finalize or confirm the pledge, but when i tried to click to do it, it said "Details being processed" or something similar to those lines, but it looked more like an mistake message to me or some nice of glitch. I then closed the page without completing the final stage. I went back to it later on and fully completed the transaction. But i still haven't received any confirmation via email from them, what should i do ? have i made two transactions? have i made an accidental illegitimate pledge ? 10 POINTSS !!!

Open Question: What is the best way to go about this?
I run a tiny theatre group and for years we've been looking for somewhere for us and other performers to perform. I was out with a pal the other day, and i came across a practically derilct theatre. the bloke who owns it hasn't bothered with the place for years. However, the guy who owns it has (in the past) always insisted that it be used for a certain charitable cause, and the idea I have for the place doesn't fit in with these idea's of his. But then again, he doesn't use the place and it hasn't been used for about 20 years. I know this is going to be a case of slowly slowly catch a monkey, but have you got any suggestions of how to go about it? I thought of saying that I would invest every of my possess money into doing the place up and donating 5% of every net profits to any charity/ cause of his choice, do you think that sounds condecending? I seriously need help!! Thanks

Qualifying Process for Entrants: 1) The video you make MUST be a music video of some nice. Open Question: People say that most critics of lsIam are taking the Qu'ran out of context as it relates to killing 'infidels'?
This is the passage (or one of them, actually): "But when the forbidden months are past, then battle and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem ; but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful." Surah 9:5 First of every, you can't really misconstrue that. Be that as it may, the argument is that this is a contextual issue and that this is actually a passage related to self-defense when Islam is at war. That may be true. HOWEVER, when EVERYTHING that is not Islamic or Islamic-compliant is seen as a direct offense and insult to Islam, can you still say the context is rational? When personal jihad is being declared over Burger King ice cream cones (this actually happened in the UK and Burger King pulled the product), can you really say that context even MATTERS? EVERYTHING that is not Islamic is considered a DIRECT insult against Islam, which is tantamount to a declaration of war upon Islam. So when viewed in the more realistic context, in which Islam believes they are at war with EVERYONE, does that change the meaning of this passage as far as practical application in the lives of Muslims? @Sadcat: Preaching to me about Christians means nothing to me. As a follower of a Pagan religion, I would bet I have heard more religious bigotry from them than you EVER will. But that has nothing to do with this question. @itsme: Christians are not still killing THOUSANDS of people over it, though, are they? More than 30% of British Muslims agreed with the statement "Western Society is decadent and immoral and Muslims should seek to bring it to an end." 40% of British Muslims want Sharia Law in the UK. And these are the supposed "Western Muslims." Imagine how the ones in the Middle Eestern countries feel? These are every "fringe Muslims"? @itsme: Did you know that in ONE YEAR, Muslims kill more people than in the entire 350 years of the Spanish Inquisition? And dude... that is in the Old Testament. It doesn't apply to any Christian who lived after Christ was crucified. @IM Trolley: look over. And again, that is the Old Testament. And by the way? Islam is responsible for the deaths of 270,000,000 MILLION non-Muslims worldwide.

Resolved Question: Why do the Liberals hate the poor so much and want to cut all their funding off?
Its every I hear lets tax the wealthy man he doesn't deserve it. Screw the wealthy man! The wealthy man as you hold in such contempt employs most of you and gives the most money and help to the worlds needy. The wealthy man will eliminate charity from his budget if taxed heavily. Its just the way it is. Very little tax funding is left for government welfare after it travels through the bureaucracy. Even a liberal can't deny that. So what gives? Haven't most liberals just thought this through or are they just being reactionaries for the cause. This demand to tax the wealthy man will do far greater hurt to the needy than any other policy. I think before the government can tax us anymore they need to clip the pork then we can talk. In my 50 years I have yet to look any pork clip. The pigs just keep getting fatter. Lib Reality is biased: You are a politician asking for only 3% more of my wealth? A wealthy man would never ask to be taxed some more. Its not humanly possible. So now who is FOS? You make me giggle in amazement. Andrew gets it folks. Yes Amelia I feel ya. Peaco:Wow right on man. Not sure what that has to do with the price of tea in China but power to the people man.

For my leadership class we as a team are suppose to pick a charity and then every that years worth of money goes to it. Open Question: Organ donation and religious discrimination?
So I'm filling out my renewal for my driver's license and when I got to the part about "In the even of a fatality do you wish to donate your body?". But there's only two choices--"transplant" and "medical research". So I call up the DMV and I ask then where the check box for "food bank" is, and the lady gives me a difficult time and hangs up. I suspect that this is because the food bank in my town is operated by nuns and the DMV is interfering with my freedom of religion. How can they receive away with letting atheists donate their bodies to "science" while honest, god-fearing folks can't donate their body to a worthwhile Christian charity? Is this fair? Thanks in advance.

Open Question: A follow up to my military question?
My grandfather was an E-9 in the Marine Corps. He saw action in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was highly decorated. He was a golden gloves boxer. He was about 6'3, 240. He was a muh-fuggin' bad ass. He would have wiped the floor with 99% of any officer I've ever met. He called them "pencil pushers" and I don't want to say "hate" but strongly disliked them. So, he retired from the military and hung out at the VFW and was active in various types of charities that supported the military. Never once, not once did I ever hear him expect people to call him, "Master Gunnery Sgt." He just did what he did and didn't want his a$$$ kissed for it. So, why do Officers expect to be treated with more respect? I know they haven't earned more than my grandfather. My question earlier was in regards to whether Civilians should call retired military officers by their rank. I don't look Enlisted persons demanded this same sort of respect from the civilian population as I do with Officers. Open Question: Why is the only thing the Democrates know how to do is lash out?
I watched the Ed Show and the far left liberal is lashing out at Glenn Beck. Now they are going to have their possess rally on Oct. 10, 2010. Which by the way is being promoted by big corporations and every the ones who are searching for power not honor. They will never repeat the emotion felt on 8/28 because that emotion came from the heart. Nobody promoted the 8/28 rally but you. As an individual "We the People" came together. They condemn Glenn for his faith, wish and charity. They condemn him for trying to restore honor in America. So does that mean Liberals are against every those things? The Democrats have nothing else to run on except the make you think if you aren't on board with them you are totally crazy. They take everything Republicans say and totally distort it . They edit out quotes to mislead you. Watch MSNBC and Fox and you decide. You can't look the whole truth unless you receive both sides of the story. What we do from this day forward will effect every our lives. Don't sit back. receive involved. Your vote will make a difference. Honor might not belong in a civic discorse but it belongs in each and every human being. Republician or Democrat Religious or not. I didn't write this to provoke an argument. If you read my questions and answers you will look where I am coming from. I believe you MUST look each side of the story to find truth. Rare2 you had me with you for a moment until you said watch Foxfaries. I said you need to watch both MSNBC and Fox to receive to the truth.

Open Question: The government needs to give us the shovel to dig ourselves out from under the financial...?
...rubble. Do we really need to toss more money at the problem? I heard about a family in Arizona who's raffling off their home. The catch is the homeowner must ally himself/herself to a charity. The homeowner receives enough money to cover the "appraised value" for his home while the charity keeps anything over this amount. If your appraised value is $100,000 and the raffle garners $300,000, the charity is donated the overage which in this case is $200,000. Not so great for the homeowner if he owes more than appraised value. The law in Arizona needs to be changed to allow homeowners to raffle off their homes in order to avoid foreclosure either without the need to have a charity along for the ride or to give the charity a reasonable percentage of the profit after the mortgage is completely paid off. Hey, I don't have anything against charities but we are in the midst of a monumental crisis. cease the insanity by empowering not crippling the people. What do you think?

Open Question: How can I start a club at my high school?
I'm a 9th grader at an art school and I want to start a club so I can make some more friends. I want to start one that raises money for charity because I like doing that. I was thinking of having me and the other members make things to sell at the school events. But the thing is, everyone makes stuff because it's an art school! If we make a bag someone else could go up and think that they can make the exact same bag and not buy it. My mom said that I should wait until I receive a good group of friends and ask one of them if they want to help, but I can't wait that long! I was thinking that the school carnival on october 2nd would be a good place to sell some stuff, and I want to start it before that so we actually have stuff to sell. Could you please help me?!♥

Open Question: Twilight fans - How can you possibly support Stephenie Meyer?
I look so many questions around here about how people can like Stephenie Meyer's books. I want to ask how anyone can like Stephenie Meyer the person. 1. She doesn't care about her fans. If you're a fan of Twilight, YOU are the reason that Breaking Dawn was terrible, according to Stephenie Meyer. Despite the fact that YOU have probably paid quite a lot of money between buying her books, seeing the films and possibly buying some merchandise. Most writers cherish their fans. Stephenie Meyer thinks you're every retards just for not thinking her books are good. 2. She's extremely arrogant. She constantly compares her books to classics like Romeo and Juliet and Wuthering Heights. Worse again, she often points out why her books are better. She said Edward is a better character than Romeo. She also thinks that she is entitled to awards. She said the only reason she won't ever receive the Printz prize is that her books have no "incest, adultery, spousal abuse, mental disease, molestation, anorexia, suicide, cutting, etc." Arrogant or what? 3. She is greedy. Sheoften charges for autographs, as if she hasn't made enough money of her fans already. She is milking the Twilight 'saga' for every it's worth. I mean, Midnight Sun? That was her trying to sell you the same book twice! And her 'novella', Bree Tanner, cost MORE than a regular novel in my local bookshop, despite being half the size and horrific. 4. Despite her millions, she gives almost nothing to charity. She did start up a project to receive money for her pal with breast cancer, but there are millions of women every over the world with breast cancer! She also gave permission to a company to make a 'The Host' skate board that sold for an incredible $1500 for charity! Is she not wonderful (sarcasm)? I know $1 from every copy of Bree Tanner went to the American Red Cross, but that book cost more than a normal book anyway! So she didn't LOSE anything. Other than that she has done nothing for charity. And she earns more than $50 million a year. How can anyone possibly defend or support this lady? Forget her writing. How can anyone support the person?

Their obsession with racial group identity is inherently racist would substantially reduce the government's role in individual lives and in the functions of foreign and domestic states; he says Republicans have lost their commitment to limited government and have become the party of big government.[74] He would eliminate many federal government agencies, such as the U.S. Department of Education,[75] the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Commerce,[76] the US Department of Health and Human Services,[76] the Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Interstate Commerce Commission and the Internal Revenue Service Obamabot.. Your answer indicates that you know nothing about Ron Paul.... because this is his platform.. silly how people support people yet know nothing about them

Open Question: Is a donation made to a non profit org that will use it as a salary of a medical resident exempt donation?
Medical residents are exempt from paying FICA because the residencies are considered an educational activity and therefore their salaries are exempt from FICA, however they are not exempt from social security deductions. This matter is pending revision of the US Supreme Court. I want to know if, a non profit org that has a 501 c approved as an exempt public charity can donate to another non profit org when the use of the funds is going to be for the "salary and benefits" of a medical residence. Is that donation exempt or is it a taxable expense? I have a non profit org that was created for the purpose of giving grants to medical students and nurses. The org has a grant policy, but we are wondering whether the org can donate to another org for the purpose of paying our candidate (resident) salary and benefits for their residency. What if the grant is approved for a particular person but is disbursed through another non profit entity? We have 501 c exemption for a grant program.

Resolved Question: My fathers solicitor hasnt sent me the copy of Will?
I have 3 times requested a copy of my dad's last will and testament. My dad left his entire estate to charity even though he continued to tell me that i was to receive his estate. My dad was a mentally frail alcoholic and i need to look this will and have it properly examined as there are questions that need answering. I wil lgive him until monday to send the will but i have grave doubts that he will. There is a letter with the will which states why his kids are to receive nothing. I need to look this too. Is the solicitor acting within the law by withholding these documents? Will it hinder any legal action i intend to take? thanks for any advice in advance. :) The estate is a property and savings.

Open Question: How to have an more attractive/alluring personality?
I guess people comment saying I'm nice but I think I sound really superficial. I have a high voice and the tone of it makes me sound like i'm complaining about everything, when really I'm just trying to explaining it. Are there any things I can do to have a generally likable personality? Should I give complements more? grin lots? Help people? receive into charity? Give Advice? Lots of people say that when they first met me they didn't know if I was joking or not. I think my sense of humor is a tad harsh, but I don't want to change it because it's the way I think and I really don't mean to sound rude or condescending. every my friends know I'm joking, but I guess other people don't.

Open Question: Do you know of any Christian charity organizations that don't try to get people to become religious?
In other words, I'm looking for Christian charity organizations that provide services to the needy (hungry, homeless, abondoned, etc.) that don't actively try to receive the people that they are helping to join the church. (i.e. Helping just for the sake of helping.) An example would be a charity that gives gifts to needy kids without throwing in religion-related materials. I'm pretty sure there are some Catholic soup kitchens and shelters that fit the bill, but I don't know the names. Thanks for your answers, if you pick to share.

Open Question: I think God might be doing a new thing for me but not sure?
I used to be able to look God's face whenever I wanted to... (This happened for about 7 years) and then I rebelled against him and for 5 years I was not able to look God's face... Nobody at church knows about my condition because if they did I would probably be an outcast there. The thing is God gives me his glory, his power and his enlightenment and he also gives me his spirit, his intelligence and his wisdom... so that I seem or appear to be more mature than others even though I don't look God's face... Now here is the thing: Lately in the last 3 days or so... I've been feeling this deep surrender in my soul... it's the same sensation that you receive when you are sniffing metal... (It feels like I am sniffing metal) so I don't know if I'm sniffing the frame of my glasses or if God is slowly revealing his face to me again. Today I asked for people at church to pray that God would forgive me and when they prayed that prayer... I felt a deep sense of reverence, and a vague sense of humiliation... So I wander if God is revealing his face me to again? I know every things are possible with God however I believe that every things are possible with God WHEN you are seeking God's face... There is an extremely religious guy at the charity organization that I attend who makes 500 000 dollars a year... and well I got the impression recently (through a dream) that it was God's will for us to date... or that this was the man God had chosen for me but I believed that was close impossible, since I am obese, uneducated and can't hold down a job... But now that God is slowly revealing his face to me, I think this will change.

Resolved Question: Am I able to volunteer under the visa waiver program?
Hi there I'm on a visa waiver in the USA for three months and am interesting in volunteering while I am here. I found this information: "Individuals participating in a voluntary service program which benefits a U.S. local community, who establish that they are a member of, and have a commitment to, a particular recognized religious or nonprofit charitable organization, may be eligible for a B-1 visa or visa free travel below the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) if the work to be formed is traditionally done by volunteer charity workers; they will receive no salary or remuneration from a U.S. source, other than an allowance or other reimbursement for expenses incidental to their stay in the United State; and they will not engage in the selling of articles and/or the solicitation and acceptance of donations. A voluntary service program is an organized project conducted by a recognized religious or nonprofit charitable organization to provide assistance to the needy or the needy, or to further a religious or charitable cause. If your proposed activities as a voluntary worker are not exactly as described, you will require either an exchange visitor (J-1) or temporary worker (H-2B) visa." The work is spending time with and reading to the blind, and it's through a religious organisation. I, and the organisation, fit every the requirements (not getting ANY pay/reimbursement, no set number of hours, not usually a paid job etc), except that I'm not an established "member" of this organisation, considering that this is a local organisation and I'm not from the USA. It seems a shame to miss out on giving my help just because of a minor thing like this, but I'd like to hear some second opinions.. Thanks

Open Question: how good is my yugioh deck?
i just made a really good yugioh deck and i think its an original strategy but i'm not sure. the main 3 cards in it are lava golem, ring of destruction and barrel behind the door. i think it has a good ballence but take a look and look what you think of it. a cat of sick omen x3 lava golem x3 marshmallon x1 mask of darkness x1 mystic tomato x3 sangan x1 spirit reaper x1 a feather of the phoenix x3 axe of despair x2 different dimension capsule x3 graceful charity x1 magical mallet x3 megamorph x2 nightmare's steelcage x3 pot of avarice x1 sealed gold coffer x3 swords or revealing light x1 upstart goblin x2 barrel behind the door x3 ring of destruction x1 waboku x3 i know graceful charity is forbidden i made this deck on yugioh spirit caller for nds so nothing is forbidden in the deck on that game list but feel free to share any other thoughts. the point of the deck is to destroy a strong monster with ring of destruction and dealing double damage by activating a barrel behind the door as chain making sure its enough to finish him. ive had much success with this deck in the game only losing a few times but i just made it and its one of my best decks.
